Los Angeles, CA – The partners of Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt LLP (HCVT) are pleased to announce that four professionals have been admitted to the partnership, effective January 1, 2024.
Russell Dunbar, Audit Partner, Camarillo, CA
Russell Dunbar brings over 15 years of public accounting experience and is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit and Advisory Services practice. Audit Partner Rebecca Gibb first started working with Dunbar when he was a staff accountant nearly 16 years ago, and she immediately noticed his exceptional professionalism, a trait he’s exhibited throughout his career. Dunbar possesses a profound technical understanding of employee benefit plan audits and has evolved into a dependable resource for guidance within the team. “Russ has demonstrated considerable strength in both practice development and staff collaboration. He is also consistently on point with his advice,” said Gibb.
“Russ is a team player and is always committed to meeting his clients’ needs. He is a solid mentor as well and is well-respected by the staff and managers in our group. We are excited to see Russ grow in all avenues as he takes on this new role and know he will continue to be a valuable contributor to our clients and firm.”
Casey Ford, Tax Partner, Fort Worth, TX
Casey Ford brings over 19 years of private industry and public accounting experience to the firm. He specializes in providing tax consulting, compliance, and investor reporting to large, billion-dollar private equity organizations. Early in Ford’s career he worked at EY and was a key member of the engagement team that served Tax Partner Chris Gays’ former employer. From the outset, Gays recalls Ford’s top-notch professionalism and technical knowledge. Ford now oversees much of the capital real estate platform within HCVT’s private equity industry group alongside Gays, contributing substantially to both their client base and team. “He has done a great job developing relationships with a very large and significant client and has become a go-to person for them,” said Gays. “He is a sounding board for the accounting team and plays a crucial role in strengthening our client relationships.”
“I’m excited to continue developing our capital real estate platform together with Casey as our client continues to grow. Beyond his technical skills, he is a genuinely good guy and gets along with everybody,” added Gays. “He has been a great advisor not only to our clients, but to the people in our office through his mentorship and guidance.”
Stephen Squillario, Partner and General Counsel, West Los Angeles, CA
Steve Squillario worked on HCVT legal matters for years as a senior partner at the law firm Haight Brown & Bonesteel LLP before officially joining HCVT as General Counsel in July of this year and brings over 15 years of experience as a trial lawyer. Since joining our firm, Squillario has managed a wide range of issues, embodying the HCVT spirit of wearing many hats, rolling up his sleeves, and enthusiastically tackling all that comes his way.
Phil Holthouse said it best: “Steve possesses a tremendous level of expertise in providing legal representation for accounting firms. In addition to being very bright and having excellent judgment, Steve has a good sense of humor and is a pleasure to work with. We are fortunate to have Steve as part of our team and leading the charge on overall risk management at HCVT.”
Tanner Yeates, Tax Partner, Phoenix, AZ
Tanner Yeates joined HCVT in 2018 with the mission of building our practice in the Greater Phoenix Area. He brings over twelve years of experience and specializes in providing partnership tax consulting and compliance services. Tanner was previously a Tax Manager at a Big-Four accounting firm and was a CFO of a real estate investment conglomerate. “Tanner consistently demonstrates a proactive approach in exploring new areas and relationships within the real estate and private equity industries. He is experienced and has the technical proficiency to solidify his promotion to partner,” said Tax Partner Mike Dreyer. “I have seen that Tanner is the kind of professional that inspires confidence in clients, and I believe he would be a compelling candidate for acquiring new business, in both the business arena and within the high-net-worth industry."
