HCVT Climbs to #14 on Vault’s Top 25 List, Recognized for Industry Excellence and Workplace Culture

April 21, 2025

(LOS ANGELES, MONDAY, APRIL 21) – Public accounting firm HCVT, the largest locally based firm in Los Angeles, the third largest in the West, and the 32nd largest nationally, has climbed to #14 on this year’s Vault Top 25 Accounting Firms list. This marks a significant rise in its national standing and recognizes HCVT as one of the most prestigious and top tax firms in the industry.

The Vault rankings are based on a survey of accounting professionals nationwide. HCVT earned Top 10 rankings across all Quality of Life and Diversity categories, including Top 5 placements in formal training, hiring process, compensation, ESG initiatives, promotion policies, informal training, wellness, and each of the diversity categories.

Vicken Haleblian, CEO and Managing Partner of HCVT, emphasized that recruiting, retaining, and developing top talent remains the firm’s highest priority. “Our rise in Vault’s rankings is a testament to the investments we’ve made in building a workplace where our team members can thrive,” said Haleblian. “This recognition affirms the work we’ve done to shape HCVT as a destination employer. Listening to employee feedback and acting on it is key to our continued growth. Rankings like Vault’s help us stay connected to the evolving needs of our people and the profession.”

Sarah Tewner, COO and Partner, added, “We are continually evaluating how to better support our professionals—through robust training, competitive benefits, and fostering a flexible work environment. Improvement on this list reflects the meaningful impact of those efforts. Our people remain the foundation of our firm’s success, and cultivating a supportive, opportunity-driven environment is central to our long-term strategy.”

From a talent acquisition perspective, Nancy Choi, Director of Recruiting, shared how the ranking reflects the firm’s values. “It’s encouraging to see our team’s experiences reflected in these rankings. Candidates today are seeking authenticity, development, and purpose in their careers—and HCVT delivers on all three,” said Choi. “Recognition like this not only underscores our people-first approach but also helps us attract professionals who share those values.”

As part of its commitment to showcasing employee perspectives, HCVT recently introduced a video series highlighting team members’ career stories and experiences at the firm. The series offers an inside look at the firm’s culture, growth opportunities, and the values that shape its workplace.

Employee testimonials featured in the Vault survey reflect these priorities:

  • “I’m grateful for the opportunities that HCVT offers. The variety of engagements available are comprehensive and encourage project ownership, leading to increased responsibilities. I believe that HCVT provides the resources necessary for a successful career.”
  • “There are ample training opportunities for new hires and those progressing in their careers. We have also had many non-accounting employees transfer roles to something they were more interested in doing. The experience gained at HCVT is unlike anywhere else I've worked.”
  • “When someone is ready for a promotion, they get promoted. There is no limit to how many staff/senior/managers there can be. This lessens peer competition. The mentorship program is also a benefit the firm has, allowing the opportunity to work with managers and above at a staff level.”
  • “The culture here sets HCVT apart from other accounting firms. While there is the expectation of getting your work done, there is no micromanaging going on, the work/life balance is great, and the partners and upper-tier employees are family-oriented and understand there’s life outside of work. There are also great benefits and scheduled holidays off.”
  • “I believe our strengths are the top professionals that lead HCVT. Phil Holthouse and now Vicken Haleblian are very well spoken and demonstrate great leadership within their roles. Over the years, HCVT always mentions to work ‘smarter,’ and I've seen growth over the years by the various committees and teams put in place. Overall, I believe morale is higher at HCVT than most public accounting firms.”
