Michael has over 20 years of experience in public accounting and provides audit services to privately held companies. Michael has significant experience in providing audit and assurance services to middle-market companies primarily in the manufacturing, retail, and distribution sector with specialties in the food and beverage, consumer products, recycling, and aerospace industry sectors. He also serves companies in the hospitality, real estate, and behavioral health industries. In addition to audits, reviews, and compilations for private companies, Michael also delivers due diligence services for mergers and acquisitions transactions, including buy-side and sell-side Quality of Earnings engagements. He works with HCVT’s advisory practice on special forensic accounting projects to assist companies in identifying weaknesses in internal controls and recommending potential opportunities for improvements.
After graduating from Pepperdine University, Michael was an accountant in private industry for four years and then began his career in public accounting at KPMG LLP, where he served as an audit manager before joining HCVT. This private industry experience, coupled with his experience in public accounting, allows Michael to provide a balanced perspective to his clients as he understands many of the issues encountered in their business.
Michael is the chair of HCVT’s audit department training committee. He is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA) and serves as co-chair on the CalCPA Accounting Education Committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Michael is also a member of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG). Michael serves on the audit committee of the Assistance League of Long Beach, assists the Los Altos YMCA with raising funds for its annual giving campaign, and is a frequent guest speaker at the accounting program at Cal State Long Beach.
