Seth brings extensive private industry and public accounting experience to the firm, most recently working with John Deere addressing international and domestic tax matters. Seth’s industry expertise includes manufacturing, with subject-matter specialization in heavy transportation and agriculture machinery and equipment.
Seth has deep analytical skills in evaluating the most tax-effective legal structure for various business entities, including the use of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans to optimize long-term wealth accumulation while saving current taxes. Additionally, Seth serves high net worth individuals and their related entities. Seth has extensive experience with state residency issues, stock options and equity awards, charitable contribution strategies and maximizing state tax deductions through the state Pass-Thru Election (PTE) process.
Since joining HCVT Seth has gained extensive Opportunity Zone experience. He has provided guidance to clients both in the formation and in the continuing operation of their privately-held Opportunity Zone entities. In serving closely held businesses, he evaluates the tax implications across the entire enterprise - the business, individual, and family. He has worked with business owners in navigating the complexities of selling their closely-held businesses as well as providing guidance after the sale. Taking this holistic approach, Seth provides tax planning solutions that are aligned with his client’s financial, personal, and legacy objectives. Federal, state and local tax audits, as well as Private Letter Ruling requests and Change in Accounting Method filings are also areas of expertise for Seth with very positive outcomes over the years.
Seth began his career in public accounting at Deloitte. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, and holds a master’s in accountancy. Seth lives in Heber City, UT with his wife and four children.
