With over 30 years of experience, Bob has served real estate clients through all phases of the business cycle. His real property and business tax planning experience are comprehensive, and he has addressed the formation, financing, merger, and reorganization of joint ventures, partnerships, limited liability companies, and public and private syndicated offerings. Bob has assisted his clients with a wide variety of commercial, residential, industrial, retail and other types of real estate partnerships and joint ventures. He has significant experience in the private equity sector and has advised clients on the formation of private equity funds for real estate investments and a variety of other types of businesses. His partnership tax planning experience includes workouts and property tax planning. Bob has advised clients on tax planning for like-kind exchanges and other tax-deferred exchanges and involuntary conversions.
Before joining HCVT in 2013, Bob was a partner with Allen Matkins, a premier California-based law firm specializing in real estate, corporate and partnership taxation, business law, litigation, and labor & employment. While at Allen Matkins, Bob’s practice focus was partnership taxation, entity structuring, and other complex business tax planning. His clients were primarily from the real estate and private equity industry sectors. From 2005-2011, Bob served as the Managing Partner of Allen Matkins’ Orange County office.
Bob earned his JD from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, California and received an LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law. Bob holds a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Southern California. Prior to his association with Allen Matkins, Bob served as an Attorney-Advisor to Judge Jules Korner, III of the United States Tax Court in Washington D.C.
