Overview

Mike joined HCVT as a partner and a member of its Executive Committee in January 2019 in conjunction with the merger of his prior CPA firm, Dreyer, Robbins & Associates, into HCVT. Mike has over 40 years of experience in complex areas of tax compliance, tax planning, wealth planning, business management, and family office services.  Mike provides broad, detailed, sophisticated tax and financial advice to individuals, families, businesses, and non-profit clients, with primary emphasis on dealing with the tax and financial matters of high net worth and ultra-high net worth individuals and families. Mike has developed strong expertise in dealing with the tax consequences of investments and businesses of all kinds, with deep experience in structuring business transactions and in developing family office and family wealth governance and transfer structures. Mike serves his clients with the overriding objective of minimizing taxes payable.

Mike began his tax career while attending college as a representative of the Internal Revenue Service. In 1977, Mike joined PwC, and as a tax manager, he became responsible for overseeing tax services to various multinational corporate and individual clients. Mike left PwC in 1982 to form what became Dreyer, Robbins & Associates.

Mike is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Mike is active in the community and recently served on the Board of Directors of LA 2028, the organizing committee that won the rights to bring the 2028 Olympics games to Los Angeles. Mike is actively involved with several Los Angeles charities and community organizations, including Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Cedars Sinai Hospital, City of Hope Hospital, Trustee of the Children's Hospital Los Angeles Foundation, University of Southern California, and is President of Alfred E. Mann Charities, Inc.
