HCVT Founding Partner Jim Carlin was a co-honoree at this year’s National Jewish Health Black & White Ball. This annual event, supported by the Los Angeles professional services community, raises funds for National Jewish Health, America’s leading hospital for pulmonology and lung surgery, and the children and adults it serves across the country. Carlin received the prestigious Humanitarian Award, recognizing individuals across the country who have made significant civic and charitable contributions to their communities and professions.
Carlin's connection with National Jewish Health took root when he witnessed firsthand the profound impact this institution had on the lives of countless individuals within the community. He has been an active volunteer with the organization for nearly a decade and currently serves as a committee member for the National Jewish Health Los Angeles Professional Services event. In the presentation of the Humanitarian Award, Carlin was recognized for his professional accomplishments, as well as his collective efforts in fundraising nearly $500k for National Jewish Health through this year’s event.
Carlin shared, “My aim is to spread awareness of National Jewish Health, to highlight the caliber of their work, and their passion in the work they do.”
National Jewish Health, based in Denver, Colorado, started in 1899 as a hospital dedicated to treating unhoused individuals who suffered from respiratory diseases. Soon the hospital’s official motto became: “None may enter who can pay – none can pay who enter.” Presently, much of the care provided by National Jewish Health is still heavily subsidized or free to patients who are unable to afford total treatment costs. These subsidies are largely provided through philanthropy and fundraising efforts.
